Vehicle description

1951 Ford F-6 No Reserve
Here is another great piece of Americana, rescued from a farm here in Kansas.
This "51 Ford was found sitting on a local farm here in Kansas. It had been several years since it had run, so we were excited to get it home and see if it would fire. Once we got it off the trailer and dealt with the wasps (ouch) we stuck a new battery in it. After that, it required a new solenoid. We cleaned the points and poured a little gas in the carb - and it roared to life. We did have to flush some fresh gas through the gas tank to get good fuel to the carb. It is running off the truck tank now, but I would expect it to go through a fuel filter or two as all the old varnish gets flushed from the tank.
The engine sounds great (although exhaust is a little loud) It likes to run with a little choke, but that will probably clear itself up. Simply due to age, it could probably use a basic tune up - points, plugs, etc., - although it runs well now. The battery I put in it is 12 volt, the truck is still 6 volt - so it either needs a 6 volt battery - or converted to 12 volt and an alternator.
The brakes even work on the old truck! Although the master cylinder was dry when I first got it, so brakes may need some attention, but work o.k. now. The bed is a dump bed, and works, but the up/down cable is stuck from sitting and needs replaced. Also - the wire came off the back side of the starter button on the dash, so it does need a new starter button (about $10.00) you currently just have to touch the wires together to start. Basically, a truck that runs, starts, stops, and needs some minor things that any novice mechanic could do. Great weekend project.
As for the body - this is a very solid truck - there are a couple of small spots of rust (in pics) but not many at all. It was a farm truck all of its life so there are some dings & dents here and there - but overall really good condition for being 67 years old! It received a quickie paint job 10-15 years ago, if I had to guess, and although they painted over dings, they did not fill any rust or hide anything with bondo. What you see is what you get. Tires have decent tread, front tires do show some weathering. If you want a great project that you can drive while tinkering with, a great truck to put in a parade or take to the farm show - this might be the one for you. Clean Kansas title in hand. My name is Cort and you can call/text with any questions. Please check my previous feedback, and it is okay for it to sit here awhile to arrange shipping/hauling. Thank you and Good luck!
