Vehicle description

This 1949 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith features aluminum bodywork by coach-builder James Young and is powered by a 4.3-liter inline-six backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. The car was purchased in 1971 by collector Maurice Goulart, who kept it in storage until his passing in early 2018. It was purchased by its current owner along with others in the collection as featured on Petrolicious and has since been returned to running condition with new engine gaskets, fresh fluids, and more. This Silver Wraith is offered by the seller on behalf of its owner with a factory tool kit, jack, airbox, Radiomobile radio, and clean California title.
The aluminum bodywork is finished in maroon with matching wheels. The paint has flaked away on the left rear corner, and the seller notes oxidation on the cowl. The bustle-back rear bodywork opens in several segments, including a fold-out load platform, concealed trunk, and a separate compartment containing the spare wheel and tools.
The front end features a center-mounted driving light mounted above the bumper, and the seller notes that the B-pillar semaphores shown in the gallery below are functional. The car was reportedly kept continually registered by its previous owner, and a set of blue California license plates is included in the sale.
The interior is upholstered in tan leather with wood trim and replacement carpets, and shows its age throughout. A factory steering wheel is retained as well as a floor-mounted shifter for the 4-speed manual transmission, which is positioned just below the driver’s right knee. Stock instrumentation includes a 100 mph speedometer, clock, fuel gauge, ammeter, and combination gauge for oil pressure and coolant temperature. Approximately 35k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer.
The car is not equipped with a center divider in the cabin. Airline-style trays are mounted to both front seatbacks. Photos of the headliner, and carpets are provided in the gallery. A previously-installed Radiomobile under-dash tube radio is included separately.
The 4.3-liter inline-six is fed by a single carburetor and paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. The car is reportedly able to run and drive short distances thanks to recent fitment of a new head gasket and upper engine gaskets as well as a water neck repair, radiator cleaning, and introduction of fresh fluids.
Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery to show the frame, body mounts, exhaust, suspension components, and more. The car is sold with a factory airbox and spare parts as well as the factory tool kit, spare wheel, jack, and other items shown in the gallery.
