Vehicle description
1949 Packard 23 rd Series – 4 Door with 79,585 original miles This rare classic has the 288 Cubic Inch inline 8 cylinder engine and I’m the cars 2 nd owner and bought the car in Pueblo, CO from a widow in 1968. They had bought the car new in 49’ from Pueblo Motors. This was my daily driver to and from school and work, in 1970 we moved to Las Vegas, NV and it stayed there until 80’ when we moved to Washington. It was driven as a recreational fun wagon throughout the 80’s and 90’s being driven on the weekends and put in parades etc. until 1998 when we moved to Maybell, CO. The car was driven until 2012 when it started leaking coolant from the water pump, I then drove the car into my shop to replace the water pump and then decided to start restoring it. Until these pictures were taken, this car hadn’t seen daylight in 9 years. I removed the radiator and heater core and had them re-cored and pressure tested. I’ve also removed all the chrome pieces from the car (Bumpers, side trim pieces, headlight bezels, and other body trim) and had everything newly chrome plated, a cost of around $2500! The wood graining was also redone on the 2 front door window frames. These pieces have been left wrapped up in packaging and are still in brand new condition. We did unwrap a few pieces so you could see them in the pictures. Included is new U-Joints still in box, new headlights still in box, new electronic alternator (never installed), misc. belts and other hoses. It has 8 new plugs installed, also included is the original owners manual. The doors, hood, and trunk all open and close as they should. This car needs the radiator and water pump put back in it, the fuel and oil drained and replenished, a good battery installed and it should run and drive! ENGINE # 389721288 The negatives of the car are that the paint is beginning to peel off in some places and there is about a 5” dent which is pictured well on the front right fender. The front seat cover has ripped and will need replaced. All questions can be emailed to: [email protected] Clean title in hand, can take more pictures upon request.
