Vehicle description
First of all, this car is still a project. However, most of the metal fabrication and rust repair is already done. Hundreds of hours have been spent carefully shaping and welding in patch panels. The rocker panels have been replaced with exact reproductions of the originals. Front floor pans have been replaced. Trunk floor has been replaced. Entire section below the trunk lid, including corners of upper quarter panels were hand shaped.
The Desoto grill is just sitting on the Mercury grill pan for the photo. Both the Mercury and Desoto grill pans are included but they are rotten and should be used for templates. Car also has 53 mercury headlight bezels. I have the bumpers and seat frames.
The flathead V8 is actually from a 53 Mercury, but is basically still correct for the car. has been bored .125 over and completely rebuilt. It now displaces 276ci and has a dual carb set up. It has a Comp Cams "mutha thumpr" cam and adjustable lifters. (I do have the original 1CM cam if you want it) ARP bolts in the bottom end. It is painted the factory color with top quality engine paint. Engine is still on the stand and will need electronics and plumbing to run. I do have a good starter, fan, and some original fuel lines. Included is an "83 S-10 T-5 Borg Warner 5 speed transmission (popular conversion for flatheads) with a bellhousing adapter, new clutch disk and new pressure plate. The drive train is complete except for shortening the driveshaft and adding a new trans yoke. I do have the original transmission if you want it. Original radiator is intact and appears to hold water. It has been flushed with muriatic acid.
Frame is super solid with minor surface rust. The rear axle has all new brake hardware, including drums. The parking brake can probably be made operable to help while moving the car if necessary. I also have new front hardware, new brake lines, and a new master cylinder, none of which are installed yet. There are lots of other new and NOS parts that will come with the car such as motor mounts, bushings and gaskets.
The rear lower quarter panels still need to be repaired or replaced. There are new steel full bolt on reproduction panels available, as well as cheaper weld on patch panels.
The car is at the point where the body should be removed from the frame so the frame can be blasted. I don"t really have the time or space to continue. Title in hand.
