We are listing this Rare and Radical Kustom 1950 Mercury Convertible restyled & owned by ledgendary kustom car builder Ken Erickson. If you do not know the Erickson name in Kustoms just Goggle it.
T his is a REAL 1950 MERC CONVERTIBLE and not a cut off coupe clone or fiberglass carson top. Its sit"s on the orginal and very special Convertible heavily reinforced X member frame and not a weak coupe frame or even weaker GM chassie swap ! ! My father Ken Erickson bought it from the late West Coast Kustoms,member Merc man Bill Papke.
This Merc has show car heritage dating back to the mid 1970"s when it was first built and has alway been garaged since. Not only will this Merc steal the show it drives amazingly as well "plus it"s tire smoking fast ! ! Look close at these pics and try to look past the Radical Candys & Flake paint / art work,and you will see there is Tons of tasteful high end Kustom body mods, plus they are done in old school real lead???? "With Real 1951 Merc steel skirts ! Floor pans & inner rockers are still factory and extremely soild unlike most convertables As a matter of fact the underside of the floor pans are smooth and still finished in the blue candy paint from when it was a 70,s show car! with no undercoat to hid anything. It"s Not just the body mods that are tastefull & high end, "take a look at the Kustom Corvette grill you will see its longer than most and the bumpers have been totally smoothed end to end ! ! This Merc drives & runs so well. .It"s powered by a rare 1970 375hp Mercury Cyclone 429 the same as a true $$$ 429 Cobra jet. coupled to a big C6 automatic transmission with A big 9" rear axle,and the mercury Cyclone front suspension clip has big Disc brakes,So you are basicly rolling on a 1970 Mercury Cyclone but with a true Mercury Convertible frame so you can not get any better than a Merc in a Merc ! ! . "Oh it has Air Ride Suspension front and rear and will lay the frame on the ground, plus it will lift up over 8" thanks to the hightest quaitly Slam Specialty air bags avail so steep driveways / speed bumps are no issue and did I say it drives amazingly well plus it handles very well thanks to the Supreme Cruiser rear suspension 2 link setup. This Merc drives smoother and handles better now on air ride than it did when it was on front coils springs and rear leaf springs ! !
It also has Power brakes, Power steering, 6 way power front bench seat, front and rear Power windows, Power Folding convertable Top, Tilt/telescopic steering column, Large 12 volt air compressor, 5 gal air tank,Real 22 gal 1970s mustang fuel tank,1957 cadillac hub caps and Fat wide white wall radial tires, Real appleton spot lights, Etc.
The reason this rare Convertible Merc is being offered under $100k is my father Ken is getting too old to enjoy driving it and is on a limited budget. This Merc could be a $100k car with a few thing redone. Mostly a new exaust system, Trunk compartment finished off, Engin compartment detailed and simple tlc
