Vehicle description
1949 Mercury Convertible Lead Sled
Up for your consideration is my 1949 Merc. I"ve loved being the caretaker/owner of this amazing car and iconic piece of Kustom Kulture history. As you can see from the pictures this old gem is old skool through and through. The full convertible top is a solid one piece Carson hard top . . I haven"t seen another one like it. It never fails to draw a crowd, or an award, at the car shows and is always getting it"s picture snapped by onlookers on the road.
If you"re part of the Kustom Kulture world, or have always wanted to be, then you know what you"re looking at. She starts right up and runs down the road just fine. You won"t be winning any races in it but you"ll look cool as hell crusin" her around town with the top on or off.
A few things worth mentioning:
Still powered by it"s Flathead V8 with Dual Carbs Manual Transmission/Manual Steering Rear Air Shocks with onboard air compressor with switch/gauge on the dash Old Skool "Tuck and Roll" Interior Cadillac Steering Column w/Tilt Wheel New custom cut and installed carpet Custom floated grille Appleton Spot Lights (not wired) Custom Hood Vents All chrome and trim in great shape
When I purchased the car I thought it was perfect the way it was so I have done nothing to the paint or the top. The paint has a satin finish and the convertible top is in great shape (no tears) with the exception of some discoloration due to age. The build was done back in the 70"s. The gentleman that did the build was a member of a Salt Lake City lead sled club known as "The Jesters". When he later became ill another member of the club purchased the car from him to help with medical expenses and to "keep it in the family" . He owned the car for several years until I later purchased it.
The car has always been stored covered indoors in a climate controlled facility. No rust. Please email me with any questions or if there"s anything specific you"d like to see a picture of.
Housekeeping: Please ask all questions, have funds in place, and permission (if needed) BEFORE bidding. It takes a lot of time and money to list on ebay and I don"t want to waste my, or anyone elses, time. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I"m willing to help on my end to make sure all goes well with your transport at pick up time. Car is being sold as is with no warranty expressed or implied. I"m not a dealer. I"ve described the vehicle as straight forwardly as I can. To serious bidders, if you want to see anything that isn"t pictured I"m happy to take additional photos of what you"d like to see and email them to you , just ask. I"m willing to discuss the car on the phone with serious buyers, simply email me your phone number and I will call you. I"ll consider ending the aution early if you would like to make an offer that"s good for both of us. No Lowballing. Good Luck !
