Vehicle description
1948 Willys Jeep. Very solid old jeep. Found in out in Mojave, previous owner was a 95 year old Navy man. The history is as follows. The jeep was bought by his brother in 1962 or 3 from Griffith Park. I guess they used a bunch of jeeps to maintain the land. The brother used the jeep in Burbank for several years then he was transferred to Boeing in Seattle Washington. Prior to moving to Seattle he traded the jeep to his brother in Mohave for a pickup truck. The jeep stayed in Mohave since then. It was registered until 1993. From then on he just drove it on his property. The Title is now in my name and it"s no-op at this time. It has been stored in an huge open garage for several years with other equipment and vehicles he had. The jeep looks like it"s been in covered storage for most of it"s life. This would explain the lack of rust on the body. The front brakes showed an attempted repair that did not work out. I have since replace front brakes completely. I drained the gas tank put in fresh gas, hit the starter button and it started without even getting a chance to pull the choke out! Surprised the heck out of me! All gauges work. Any way its a great little jeep and considering all the junk out there it would be a joy to own. It looks like the boys at Griffith Park reinforced the front frame rails and leaf springs to hold some kind of small plow the keep the dirt roads level. It has the original black plates which is nice to have. Tires look brand new.
