Vehicle description
The car was sold and delivered to Cuba prior to 1959 and shipped back to Florida for the majority of its life. Letter for delivery will be included (from Studebaker in South Bend, for delivery of several cars to Cuba).
Reason for Sale: I recently purchased another Studebaker, a 1950 Commander locally and plan to keep that one.
I have driven this car weekly 10 to 15 miles to evaluate and determine reliability of the car.
Car Overview:
1. Rebuilt engine in 2012, with just over 5000 miles. Sounds and runs great. 2. Rebuilt rear axle in 2019, receipt to be included. 3. Trans shifts through all gears no issues noted 4. Recent paint job, last 10 years? 5. Tires good tread 6. Interior in nice condition, as seen in photos 7. Have driven the car up to 50 MPH on the X-way with no vibration 8. Car starts every time 9. Very Solid Body 10.Looks like bumpers were re-chromed at some point. 11.Service manual included.
Observations that might require attention:
1. Minor electrical issues, e.g. Driver headlight operation is intermittent, wiring should be reviewed and insulated better in general. 2. Horn does not work 3. Speed odometer not operational 4. Window regulators work but need adjustments and/or repair to operate more easily. 5. Side windows and trunk seals are OK but I would want to rework - no major leaks but not very professional job at re-paint 6. Some steering wheel wandering, as stated in the manual. Might need to look at ball joints or steering box adjustment? Not as tight as noted on the 1950 Commander. 7. Front hood latch sometimes sticks - will open with some effort 8. Passenger side window is cracked but intact 9. No key for locked glove box.
Car is sold "AS IS" with no implied or expressed warranty. There are no returns and / or refunds. Sales are final. Buyer is expected to pick up the car locally or provide transportation. Title will be provided when full payment is received. Car is insured with Haggerty.
On Sep-25-20 at 12:51:35 PDT, seller added the following information: Reserve has been lowered. This car"s photo is on the inside cover of the most recent issue of Studebaker International Magazine. The most recent issue is focused on the 1948 Studebaker. This is a wonderful example of the 1948 Studebaker.
