Description Here is my 1948 IH International Metro delivery van w 113" wheelbase. It"s a KB 1 (half ton). It is the medium length van of the 3 common ones. I have CLEAR WYOMING TITLE in my name. ID tag on header panel says: Model KB 1M wb 113" Chassis # 7771 MODEL GRD 2144 HP 73 @ 3200 rpm MAX gross weight 4600 lbs METRO tag says Body # 23333. Has 73,728 miles. It was a FRITO LAY delivery van in Salt Lake City and a neighbor up the street went to buy it in Salt Lake at the company auction in 1955. He then converted it to an elk hunting camper rig. He cut a hole in roof for stove pipe which I patched w/ tin. He hauled kids to elk camp and drug home many elk and deer home in Charlie (that is nickname his kids gave it). I bought it from his daughter in-law 2 summers ago. I am just swamped w/ too many projects and must lighten the load here.
The engine is original IH flathead 6 you would find in 1/2 ton pickup trucks. It looks complete and all in place. I forgot to check if its free but can if you ask me. Most folks put in modern hot rod chassis and small block Chevy in these vans and toss engine in junk pile anyways. There is missing glass and cracked glass (it is all flat glass so any shop can cut it). Back doors have dents and pass side one is missing the keeper hinge at the top. All flat glass so easy to replace. They sell weatherstrip kits on Ebay. I have a real nice handle for the rear doors (see last pic).
Original rims w/ new tires just to roll her around. I have most of the stainless bars for the grill. .it may be missing 3 or 4. IH emblem is porcelain and chipped. There is major rust down on rolled rockers and lower front fenders. Dents and torn metal at rear lower corners. Some dents on back of roof near doors. Needs a lot of body work so be prepared for a full build. I do not have ignition key. There are dents all over inner wheel wells (see pics). Looks like original bumpers. I have no springs for the seat.
It is in Encampment Wyoming 82325 and non running w/ no brakes. We are 4 hrs NW of Denver and just 40 miles south of Interstate 80 west of Laramie, WY. Transport is up to you but I may be able to deliver if not too far away (contact me to discuss). I WILL NOT ACCEPT PAYPAL and only direct WIRE TRANSFER to my bank. I can provide more pics or info no problem, just contact me. UPS shipping is bogus just to get it listed. .you pay all the ship costs. Payment and Shipping
