Why This Car Is Special
We have a unique version of a 1948 Crosley Convertible here at Skyway Classic that you need to come see.
Mechanical
Crosley was a small, independent American manufacturer of subcompact cars, bordering on microcars. At first called the Crosley Corporation and later Crosley Motors Incorporated, the Cincinnati, Ohio, firm was active from 1939 to 1952, interrupted by World War II production.
Our lightweight Crosley, under 2000 lbs., has the Crosley body on a Chevy frame upgraded axles front and rear, and a Chevy V6 engine and 3-speed automatic transmission. To say it is both quick and nimble is an understatement.
Interior
Ours also has the Chevy interior with black bucket seats, great factory dash and gauges, sport steering wheel, carpeting and floor mats, and matching black vinyl door panels.
Exterior
The exterior of our Crosley conversion is painted in a bright yellow driver quality paint with a black convertible top. It rides on chrome wheels and black wall tires, has great chrome bumpers and trim, a single exhaust system, and a fake propeller at the rear for laughs.
Conclusion
Crosley introduced several "firsts" in American automotive history, including the first affordable, mass-market car with an overhead camshaft engine in 1946; the first use of the term "Sports Utility" in 1947, for a 1948 model year convertible wagon; and the first American cars to be fitted with 4-wheel caliper type disc brakes, as well as America"s first post-war sports car, the Hotshot, in the 1949 model year.
You can add another first to that list with this unique version of a 1948 Crosley Convertible we have here at Skyway Classic with a Chevy V6 drivetrain and chassis that makes it quick and dependable. Everyone will want to look at it wherever you drive it and at car cruises and shows.
