The most impressive piece of this classic Packard is the 356 CID straight 8-cylinder engine. This engine is the most reliable and smoothest running engine of its time, they say it runs so smooth, you can set a glass of water on the engine while its running and the water will stay calm. That engine is attached to a 3-speed manual transmission which most people refer to as “3-on-the-tree".
