Vehicle description
Available for sale at NO RESERVE is a truly remarkable survivor. This 1947 Chevrolet Fleetmaster Coupe is in very good overall condtion. Fitted with the original 6 cylinder engine, and 3 speed manual column shift transmission. This car runs smoothly and drives well. It is an old car with an old suspension so it is a little bouncy going down the road. It starts quickly and easily and shifts well (or as well as any 3 in the tree does). It has 4 brand new tires and new brakes. It stops well and does not dive right or left. The car has been converted to a 12 volt system and the original generator has been replaced with an alternator. It is 100% complete (except the original generator) including the spare tire, jack, and tire tool. The car has been repainted and shows well from 10 feet away, but an up close inspection reveals the paint job was amateur, and has cracks and pits, and a place or two that is peeling. The windows are all there with a couple of cracks but no missing or crumblin glass, there is some separation starting to show but overall they give the car real character. The windows go up and down smoothly and easily, and the wing windows open and close properly as well. It does leak a little oil as was common with these engines. The interior appears to be original and does need to be redone but is in surprisingly good condition for it"s age. All the original gauges are there and all but the ammeter are functioning properly. The original radio and clock are also there but not currently functioning. The brake and running lights are working but the headlights do not currently work. It has the original vacuum wipers which function correctly. There are 3 or 4 small rust hloes in the driver"s side floor board each about the size of a pencil eraser (pictured from top and bottom) and a very small amount of rust under the driver running board (also pictured). Other than that it is virtually rust free and the rest of the floors and trunk are solid and strong. The frame is clean, rust free, and not flaking or pitting. This car could be driven exactly as is and enjoyed for years, but it would also be a very easy restore.
