Vehicle description
For Sale is my 1946 Mercury Eight
This car has a clear title. There is NO mice damage. This car RUNS and DRIVES. Use it like it is or with a little work bring it across the finish line.
Minimal to no rust. This car has been re-painted in the past. Interior is vinyl, there isn"t a headliner in it.
Flathead V-8 with a NON-SYNCHRONIZED three on the tree transmission. This is a true "Old School Cool" car.
The Good:
Beautiful body (like most ladies of that time period!) Minimal rust Much work has been done in the past All of the glass is good and is there Runs and drives. I took it on a 50 mile road trip this summer Can be enjoyed the way it is or with minimal effort will be a beauty queen ZERO mice Title in hand The best part of this car is the engine. It runs like a watch (If you don"t know what a watch is ask an old fart. They will explain what this means to you) I have changed the engine oil, tranny oil, and rear diff oil Modern radial tires with modern rims that have been powder coated to match the dash color 12V regulator and battery This will be the cheapest and cleanest Mercury of this era on the internet, hands down
The Bad:
Some of the paint didn"t stick to the primer correctly on one fender and in the grill area. I have tried to show photos of this. Gas tank should be replaced. It works fine but it seeps when it is full Modern shocks have been added but one bracket needs welded. It is where the fuel tank is so the tank must be removed to do this. Perfect time to put a new tank it. Steering has a little free-play. There is a procedure to tighten it up but it has yet to be done at the printing of this ad Interior is there with the exception of the headliner. It is vinyl and not show quality but very usable. Please see the photos.
Disclaimer:
This is an old car. Old cars like to dribble. Old cars take skill to drive. Old cars require tinkering. Old cars drive slow, don"t have A/C or cruise control. There isn"t a booming stereo in this car. I have a non-working period correct AM radio that I can throw in with this car if you want it. There is NO warranty other than I can drive this car up on a trailer when it shows up to haul it home. I will take personal check, PayPal, or cash. Make no mistake about it though, this car will NOT leave my possession until the funds have ABSOLUTELY cleared. If you screw up and send a trailer before I know the funds are clear I WILL NOT LOAD THE CAR! You are more than welcome to come and look and I will take you for a ride in it. Once the hammer falls, the reserve is met, and you are the high bidder it becomes yours at that point. You ARE NOT bidding just to look at it. Ask the wife if you can have it before you bid. Ask your girl friend if you can have it if the wife ways "No". Ask your wife"s girlfriend if you can have it if both of them say no. I live in zip code 58639 which is a long ways from anywhere. Please consider this and the transportation costs to get it home before you bid.
Shipping is your responsibility and at your cost. I will help load. Ask questions! ! !
