Vehicle description
Relisted due to a non-paying bidder.
We bought this lovely Packard 120 convertible in 2014 from a California dealer as a summer daily driver, and have had it in the care of the well-respected Packard specialist Parker Roaf during our ownership. Parker rebuilt the front end, steering, brakes, shift linkage and rewired the car. He replaced the canvas roof and swapped the moribund vacuum roof system with modern hydraulics. Cosmetically, he re-carpeted the car and trunk, sent the dashboard to South Carolina to be woodgrained, replaced shriveled, dried-up dash plastics with faithfully executed reproductions and had the radio rebuilt. The 120 starts, shifts, handles, steers and brakes effortlessly and conducted itself in heavy Boston traffic with aplomb and poise. Restoration costs to date total roughly $38,000, and receipts are available to serious buyers.
Then, in 2018 we moved to Cape Cod and took over the ownership of a bed and breakfast, and the 120 found itself sidelined given our frenzied renovation schedule at the inn. She last shone at the front of the 2019 4th of July parade in Falmouth and then in 2020 the pandemic ended public events and she"s been garaged. We take her out every so often and faithfully start her every 4 to 6 weeks to keep everything nicely lubricated. She"s a joy to drive, docile and quiet.
You can drive her as is, or take her to the next level with some body work, new paint and brightwork restoration. Right now she is an original looking, honest driver, warts and all, and can be driven without the worry and nervousness of navigating a museum piece through real-world traffic.
Given the age of this car, this offering is as is, as seen, and mileage indication is only a guess. Bidders are encouraged to visit for an inspection prior to bidding. All sales are final and without post-auction recourse, and by bidding you are agreeing to these terms. Buyer is responsible for pickup/shipping.
