Vehicle description

Well, I never thought it would happen, I fought it as long as I could, but my kids are winning and now are nagging me into downsizing. It"s true that I have too many projects to finish in my lifetime, and this age thing is creeping up on me, and I hate to admit it but. . .so here goes. Loraine (that"s her name), my 1940 Lincoln Continental Convertible is now for sale. Loraine along with what"s left of a parts car. are probably going to be the first to go. Originally there were two cars and her previous owner started restoring her, and he ran out of time (like we all do sooner or later) and I bought the partly restored car and parts car, from his widow. I was, of course, going to continue Loraine"s restoration "as soon as I have the time" or "when I finish this one" etc. (you know how that goes, I am sure!) Loraine, and an GREAT amount of body parts and more and more other parts, are now for sale. Loraine is about 95% complete. Almost every part that has an age (rust) problem has been reproduced. Some are already on the car and others aren"t. There is about two of everything (and sometimes three) except the drive train. Only 1 frame and 1 V12 and trans. There are parts of another drive train but not a complete extra one. She has a new dash and two sets of top irons among many other parts. And the upholstery is there for patterns. I am sorry, but there is no way that I am going to list all the extra parts but there is a TON of them. Loraine is 80% apart. I am including some pictures of the fenders. Note the condition of these! Fenders are usually a BIG problem in restoration. These are beautiful! And there are more than 4 of these! I am not a Ford man. My interests lie in the cars from the 1920"s, so what I am telling you, is what I have been told. My Ford friends and some research tell me when Loraine ls restored, she is worth between $70,000 and $80,000 because she is a true classic and very few of the 1940 Continental convertibles were ever made. The storry about them says that they were all hand made. I am sure that she would be even worth more, when finished, if she had a secrete life. I know of none. If she does, she is keeping it to herself. As far as I know neither Elvis, nor Rhett and/or Scarlet Butler, nor Ashley Wilkes, nor Jimmy Stewart, nor Alan Ladd, nor David O. Selnick, nor anybody else who is famous, did ride in, did own, nor even see Loraine. Sorry! Now my CMA part. Loraine is where is and as is. Please if you don"t intend to buy Loraine then don"t bid. I"ve been on that route before! And, I am sorry but I don"t intend to give her away. The reserve price (set by Ford people) is a very fair price considering the car and it"s rarity and it"s value when restored. She comes with no warranted or guarantee. Transportation is the project and cost of the buyer and she must be moved in 30 days.
