In 1927, General Motors introduced LaSalle, a companion brand to GM"s top-of-the-line brand Cadillac. The LaSalles were manufactured by Cadillac but were slightly less expensive and thus less ostentatious than the fancier Cadillacs. This particular LaSalle Convertible comes to us out of a very large collection in Texas, having spent its previous years in collections in Colorado and California. This LaSalle Special is powered by a 332 Cubic Inch L-Head V8 engine with a Single 2 Barrel Carburetor which produced 130 Horsepower in its day. The L-Head Motor is mated up a 3 Speed Manual Transmission with a "3 on the Tree" column-mounted shifter. The exterior chrome and brightwork on this antique automobile are in excellent condition and bumper is outfitted with the optional grille guard. The exterior on this luxurious LaSalle has been refinished in a beautiful Champagne Metallic exterior paint that truly makes this convertible stand out of the crowd. This Series 52 sits on 4 bias-ply wide-whitewall tires with LaSalle Hubcaps and red painted rims. The chocolate brown power convertible top has a rear glass window and a great look that complements the exterior look of the car. The burgundy leather bench seat interior gives this LaSalle Convertible a truly elevated, luxurious interior look. The dash and steering wheel are in their stock configuration and are absolutely stunning! A temperature gauge, battery gauge, gas gauge, oil pressure gauge, and speedometer make up the stock instrument cluster on this classic roadster. This LaSalle is also equipped with an AM Radio and under-dash heater, which were the 2 most expensive options back in 1940. Whether you are looking for an ultra-rare convertible for your first classic or you have a garage full of LaSalles and Cadillacs, this 1940 LaSalle Series 52 Special Convertible Coupe is a superb choice.
