Vehicle description

1940 Dodge D-14 Business coupe.
Cars with chopped tops always attract attention but, when you open the hood it changes everything. Nothing has the impact of a 392 Hemi!
Engine: The motor was sent to the KJE machine shop in Rochester NH for freshening up. She needed a .60 overbore due to cylinder scratches, producing around 418 c.i. It was flushed and new bearings and freeze seals installed. New valves and seats set up for unleaded gas, hydraulic cam and Edelbrock 600 carb. Overhauled valve train. Headers from Hot Heads. Custom exhausts with Flowmaster mufflers. A solid state Vertex magneto. The generator case has a 75 a. alternator by Powermaster. ARP fasteners were used inside and out. Chevy water pump and oil filter. Deep aluminum oil pan. Biggest aluminum radiator that would fit. In 1958 the engine was rated at 350 HP in the New Yorker it came from. With the headers, cam and carb I would estimate a solid 400 hp. She cruises easily at 80 mph all day.
Running Gear Front clip from 1970"s Nova. All bushing and worn parts replaced. Front end alignment. Rebuilt Turbo 400 trans. with 3000 stall B&M converter. New Ford 9” with 3.50 posi. There is a slight vibration at speed that I think is the driveshaft that needs balancing as it was cut to fit. New brake and gas lines. Electric fuel pump. GM power steering. Disc brakes all around, 12” front, 10” in the rear. Panic stops with ease! Stainless gas tank. Front clip was from a 1970’s Nova and had all bushings and worn parts upgraded. 16" Wide whites on steel wheels w/ baby moons.
Interior : Rolled and pleated burgundy Naugahyde was used and carpet added. Entire car has Dynamat firewall through trunk. Has seat belts. The trunk sides and floor are done but the inside of the trunk lid and false wall need to be done. Battery, jack and whatever is in trunk behind false wall. Spare is behind front seat with access panel. Dash was rebuilt and converted to 12v. Fuel gage worked but does not now. AC by Southern air. NOT working now, I think it is the compressor. Steering is from an S-10. Stereo w/CD under the seat is by Sony, if you turn it up high enough over the hemi it sounds great.
Body: Top chopped 4.25” All the trim is there and in fair to excellent shape. Some very small rust on top of rear drivers’ fender, and bottom edge of trunk lid is rusted, but all over solid car. Paint: Roof was repainted after chop. Below belt line is old, probably the original green. Custom cut tinted glass all around. Drivers’ door has spider crack in window. Two new included and patterns for all glass. Car cover. New wipers and motor from New Port Engineering. New EZ wiring harness.
It starts, stops and runs all day. Cruises easily at 80 mph. Clean Arizona Title. I bought it from the guy who chopped the top in Mass in July of 2007 and the rebuild was done by winter. It has been titled, registered and driven since. It has a valid inspection N.H sticker. 14,900 miles since overhaul. I was driving it daily to work until I decided to sell it. I love it but it is time for a change. Also listed locally so it could be sold there. * *Payment within 3 days of sale. Cash or bank transfer.* *
