Vehicle description

About this vehicle This 1940 Dodge Business Coupe is an original. The owner has had it for 1 year. The vehicle is drivable. Seller"s Notes Please contact me if you need any further information. Vehicle Details 1940 Dodge Business Coupe Deluxe with the original Flathead 6 motor and manual transmission. Showing less than 36,000 miles according to the odometer and 2 previous registrations. I purchased this car in Vermont a few weeks ago along with a 69 Bronco. Now I’m liquidating some of my classics to build a garage to store the other ones. I purchased this coupe from a female who was selling several cars she purchased from Connecticut in 2012. The owner at the time was 74 years old and when he passed away she was able to buy a few classics from his estate. I have the Bill of Sale from that transaction and his previous registration. Speed forward 9 years and now she needed to sell her cars to start a new business opportunity. She only put 81 miles on the coupe during her ownership of the car. This little fat fendered business coupe is complete on the exterior and interior. I removed the bumper guards recently to sell them separately, but I might throw them in depending on the outcome of the auction. The coupe runs and drives as it should. No tire wobble or hesitation. My mind hesitated trying to remember the manual shift pattern! I would suggest that you do a regular tuneup and adjust the clutch. It appears that a new master cylinder, wheel cylinders and brake hoses were replaced recently. I could leave the car out in the cold and it would start up once you primed the gas a few times and played with the aftermarket choke (underneath the dash). The VIN plate, 30226662, which is stamped on the right (pass) side door jamb indicates that this is a model 1940 Dodge 6/ D14 De Luxe. The engine number also corresponds with the above info and identifies the size of the engine to be a 218ci engine. The car has some paint flaws on the exterior, which are on the corners of the car. It looks like someone tried to match the paint and did a bad job. There is a dent to the left (driver’s) edge of the trunk, which is off balancing the trunk a bit. Another area on the right (pass) side fender that has very minor surface rust. There are no visible holes. All the glass is in good operating condition. The interior of the car and the trunk is really clean. It has 2 spare tires, one behind the seat and another in the trunk. Has some aftermarket 80s gauges and a crappy radio, but the original dash components seem to operate. The frame and trunk both appear solid and clean. Even the rails supporting the running boards are solid. Basically, this is a nice complete driver with wide white tires, running boards and fat fenders. Just tune it up and cruise now! Drive it this season as you change a few things here and there then do your work in the winter. Restore it back to factory, kustomize It with a baby Hemi and taildrag it etc. I already have a 39 Plymouth Business Coupe that we chopped, installed a 354 Hemi and ordered an air ride system. I listed a few of those pics, but this auction is for the 1940 Dodge. I’m located in Trumbull, Connecticut. Please come and take a look at it yourself or call me for videos at 2 O three five 2 1 seven eight 5 eight. I will accommodate any of the winner’s scheduling for transport to facilitate the whole deal. Selling with a transferable registration and a Bill of Sale. Vermont, Connecticut and New York are Non Title states for classic vehicles. Your state will only require a VIN check and the two previously listed forms of vehicle pedigree. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs and arrangements. Wire transfers, PayPal, Zelle and Venmo are all acceptable forms of payment. Exterior Coupe is complete, running and driving Interior Interior is presentable. Has some 80s gauges and a radio, which are NOT cool at all.
