Vehicle description
1940 Chevy Truck
Cab chopped 4”, channeled 3”, custom built trans tunnel & floor structure. Original Brewster green paint, what"s left of it still shines. No clear needed. Underside of cab, windshield frame, door jambs, around windshield & rear glass are painted in matching Imron. Black epoxy primer where it was chopped. The rest is 80+ years of wear & tear, rust, chips, scratches, etc.…
All new glass. Windshield cranks open, cowl vent opens. Windows & doors open & close as they should. Both doors lock with a skeleton key.
All black leather upholstery. No vinyl, no naugahyde. Seat has Bedford cord inserts, lace stitching & folds down. Door panel upholstery has well worn Buffalo/Indian head nickels for buttons. Floors, headliner & rear wall are a mix of vintage pine, mahogany & oak. Brass screwed, torched & more than a few coats of poly. ‘64 Chevy wheel mounted to the original shortened column. Dash is mirror black Imron with original polished stainless moldings. Custom gauge mount/opening. Jack & Coke brake/clutch pedals. A pair of old copper mugs to hold your favorite beverage. An old Harley leather tool bag for your stash. Leather laced shifter & park brake boots. SFI 2” lap belts. All interior hardware is stainless, what else?
New wiring front to rear. All new Cole Hersee switches. Except for the nos Signal stat 900. And the ignition switch, which still has the original key & works as good as the day it was made. All new lights (real bulbs, no leds), VDO gauges(fuel, oil, temp, volts), nos VDO tach, Stewart Warner 160 mph speedo. No fuses, all circuits have Cole Hersee breakers. Working vintage Deluxe Redhead 3 spd. heater/defroster, new core & fan motor, electric wiper, Pioneer am/fm/cd & speakers.
Bed is off a "37 Gmc. The sides were swapped from left to right to cover the lower frame behind the cab. Then shortened at both ends & the stake pockets welded back on, new stake holes cut exactly as the originals. 50+ year old weathered 3/4” white oak planks for the deck. Yeah it’s heavy, helps with the lack of traction. Custom built over center latches hold it down tight. The battery is mounted at the rear. As is the cooler/storage box. The box’s one off white oak lid has the "50s “Chevrolet” valve cover script carved in, then sandblasted, toasted & about a dozen coats of poly. The remains of an old Westinghouse Coke cooler was sacrificed to fill in the tailgate. Fuel tank is round, black & holds 16 gallons, nothing special.
Frame is z"d 6” in front, stepped 11” in rear. Original rails from front end to back of cab is boxed. All extra holes welded & smoothed, all thru holes sleeved. Rear frame built with 2x3 & 2x5 .180” wall tubing. 107” wheelbase.
Front suspension is spring under original beam axle with new leafs. Original front lever shocks rebuilt. New Vega steering box, king pins, chrome moly rod ends, steering shaft & joints.
Rear suspension is a triangulated 4 link. Has adjustable control arms & adjustable spring height. New coils & tube shocks.
