Vehicle description
1940 Chevrolet Custom Half Ton Pickup Out of the foothills of the California Sierra Nevada comes this incredible custom Chevrolet pickup, perhaps the best of its kind anywhere. Sold new in Sacramento 80 years ago, this hauler put in nearly 5 decades of hard work before being given a long rest in a barn. Then it was carefully deconstructed, restored and renewed, and given a second life as a first class hot rod truck, a regular award winner at national car shows, and a reliable, powerful and great looking ride that any lover of vintage trucks would be proud to own. After removing the body and cargo box, the frame was boxed, the seams were smoothed, and it was painted with rustproof paint. The chassis is fitted with a Mustang II independent front suspension, front power disk brakes, power rack and pinion steering, a Griffin aluminum radiator with electric fans, and a 9 inch Ford rear end with highway friendly gears. Before reassembly, a new 350 CID ZZ4 V8 with aluminum heads was installed and topped by a Street & Performance tuned port ignition system. Completing the power train is a GM TH350 automatic transmission and custom driveshaft. Ceramic headers feed the dual exhaust system that announces the arrival of this little truck with a throaty growl. Meanwhile the original steel body underwent a complete makeover, including a multitude of custom features. The front fenders have been elongated to flow into the grille pan, the top was given a 2-3/4” haircut, the hood has been shaved, the door hinges hidden, door handles were jettisoned in favor of door poppers actuated by a remote keyfob. The cargo box features new oak planks, stainless steel runners, filled stake pockets, and a custom smooth tailgate. The bumpers were removed to give this Bowtie hauler a clean, crisp profile, and aft, a fabricated rear roll pan with recessed license plate and ports for the exhaust tips makes this pickup look as good going as it does coming. The original Chevy grille was replaced with a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted masterpiece featuring over 3 dozen horizontal bars. There are dozens of other subtle body modifications that have earned this truck Best of Class, Best of Show, Best paint, and numerous other accolades. Coated in bright Laser Red 3 stage paint, this is an eye-popping truck that draws admirers wherever it goes. The cabin is outfitted in luxurious appointments, too. Behind the V-butt windshield is a beautiful textured dash full of Classic Instruments, and an overhead console houses the first quality sound system. Beautiful saddle tan leather covers the door panels, Glide seats, overhead console and headliner and brushed aluminum accents add a finishing touch to the craftsmanship of this build. The pickup is equipped with power windows operated by hidden switches, a Vintage Air Conditioning system that blows cold air, an Ididit tilt steering column with leather wrapped steering wheel, and rich carpeting covers the floor. No detail has gone untouched in this truck, and even though it has been completed for over a decade, it has less than 2000 miles on the odometer. It is as fresh as the day it was finished.
