Enjoy bidding on this 1940 Buick Super that turns heads wherever it goes! 1940 was the first year of the 50 Series Super which remained until 1958. Buick introduced many updates for the 1940 Super. It was the first year of the "Torpedo" C-Body which increased cabin size and eliminated the running boards, giving a sleeker, more sporty look while adding room for comfort. The new C-Body was also 2-3" lower than previous models. When combined with a column mounted shift lever the cars offered true six passenger comfort, changes that had clearly been influenced by the Cadillac Sixty Special. The new Super temporarily shared its 121.0" wheelbase dimension with the 40 Special. The engine is a 248 cubic inch "Fireball" Straight Eight, which produced 107 horsepower straight off the assembly line.
