Vehicle description
This Buick was represented to me as the "Shirley Temple" Buick, having been originally purchased by 20th Century Fox studios then modified by Bohman and Schwarz of Pasadena, CA. The modifications were the removal of door glass, window cranks and door locks. The window channels were "drenched over" so as to prevent irritation to celebrities arms when on parade and waving at fans. I have not been able to verify that pedigree although I have found references to this being the "Shirley Temple" Buick on the internet. It was previously owned by Tom Lorin co-founder of the Pebble Beach Concourse d"Elegance and Tom Barrett of . It has been on display at the Peterson Auto Museum in Los Angele and was the 2001 Most Distinguished Open Car at the Greenwich, CT Concourse d"Elegance. At one time in the past (I don"t know when) it was restored with a later model (1949?) engine installed. That engine and the engine well are very clean and present well. The leather interior is in excellent condition. The convertible top needs replacing.I am 74 years old and have been liquidating my collection for several years (started with 27 cars). This Buick is one of 4 I still own (1924 Cleveland sedan, 1927 Studebaker sedan and a 1947 Packard taxi). This is my second listing. The first buyer failed to perform.Full disclosure: I have not driven this Buick for about 9 years. At that time I was struck with a vision problem (recently fixed with surgery. I voluntarily gave up my driver"s license when I side swiped a street sign on the passenger side. I had wanted to fix the damage when my vision was restored. Alas that happened after I lost interest in collecting/restoring cars. My motive for selling is to stop paying storage charges, otherwise I don"t need the money. Before the accident I would escort dignitaries in local parades. It pops out of 1st gear when accelerating briskly. I have a parts cars (1940 Buick Limited sedan not titled) that goes with the sale.Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I will assist when possible. The Buick is being offered for sale locally
