Vehicle description
I am selling this car on consignment for a friend of mine. My name is Keith Moser from Long Island. I am a longtime member of the Vanderbilt region AACA ,and also the president of the local AMCA big Sandbar Motorcycle Chapter. I sell items for myself and friends in the hobby and this is a rare item being offered. The Car: 1931 Chevrolet Deluxe Landau Phaeton The modern AE Independence series of 1931 was available as both a passenger car and with light commercial bodies in a wide variety of configurations. Among the list was the Canopy Express, which featured a 72-inch long by 45-inch wide, pickup truck-like bed and a fixed frame-like roof with open sides, which could be covered by scroll curtains tucked under the roof. The two-door, five-passenger coach priced at $545 was the most popular body style with 228,316 examples built. This was followed by the 109,775 of the Special Sedan priced at $620, and 66,029 examples of the Sport Coupe which had a price of $575. The roadster was the most affordable at $475 and 2,939 examples were built. The sport roadster listed for $495 and 24,050 were built. The phaeton was $510 and 852 constructed. 52,465 were sedans ($635), 23,077 were convertible cabriolets ($615), 20,297 were five-passenger coupes ($595), and 28,379 were five-window coupes ($545). 5,634 were Landau Phaetons priced at $650. Representing the top of the line, the Landau sold for $650. All the new Chevrolets were marketed as either Standard or Deluxe models, the latter for the first time, and distinguished by a chrome plated wire mesh grill in front of the radiator housing, clearly inspired by the Cadillac V-16
This car was purchased by my friend about 10 years ago.It was acquired at an estate sale here on Long Island on The Gold Coast. It was owned by the same Family since New,and my friend got it from the son of the Original owner(We have that information available to the new Purchaser). This car is an all original survivor in amazingly good condition. This is a Fisher-Body the tag on the firewall says Fisher-Body and All deluxe Phaetons came from the Fisher Facility. .The car was repainted sometime in the late 50"s or early 1960"s otherwise its as original as they come. .The only replacement part I can see is maybe the windshield wiper motor . The car starts, runs and drives and all the stuff works. The car was Driven by the original owner,(She was the mother of the gentleman my friend got the car from),She used it around town from 1931 until she stopped driving in the 1980"s .The Son then took the car and used it once in a while to drive around the neighborhood. We believe the Mileage is correct. .It was always garaged ,and serviced when needed. This car is a true survivor and all the wood is in amazing shape(The wood is often in poor shape but there is no rot or damage on this car).It has all the rare Landau Phaeton trim and some extras as well(The luggage rack and dual tailights were optional) The bumpers are single rail which is a late 1931 feature and it has the often replaced correct carburator with correct air cleaner. The top is in real nice shape. The all original interior has some rips and scratching but still is attractive. All the tires are nice and have been recently added.brakes work well. The underside of the chassis is solid and there is no body work done on the car. The Landau Phaeton is a very rare car to find in this condition and this deserves a good home. The car can be inspected in person via appointment. feel free to call me or message me with any questions 631682-5973.
