Vehicle description
Chevrolet Other. This is a really cute project truck and could be a daily driver with a little more work. My uncle built this truck from the ground up years ago and it sat in a shed for over 20 years. My uncle told me that the motor was a complete rebuild years ago. I purchased it a year ago and it started on the about sixed turn and runs very well with normal quite noise. The more I run it the better it runs. He started with a 30 Chev pickup cab and frame and put a 1941 running gear under that so it is upgraded to juice brakes. Everything was new back then but the brakes will need cylinders and master cylinder kit. I have the master cylinder kit but haven"t put it in. The E. brake works well. The frame has been cleaned and painted black. See pictures for wheels and tires. Tires are like new but have been sitting for years but are not weather checked because it sat in shed. The engine is a 216 with lots of crome that needs to be polished and runs great. The transmission is a manual 4 speed and works good. I have noticed that the throw-out bearing is rattling some and when you push clutch in, it stops. I put in a resister for 12 volt and wired in the switch to that. The truck needs a wiring harness and lights. The headlights on it are Model A Ford headlights. I would change all of that but I have to many projects going. My uncle put new wood in the cab and did it with oak and it appears he did a good job. It is solid. I put in a new windshield this summer and it is safety glass and i built an aluminum frame for the windshield. I have glass for the rear window but have not put it in yet. The doors are lined with wood and close and shut well. The window cranks are in but there are no door windows which is flat glass. I put in a school bus seat for now and it fits well. The box was built by my uncle and you can look at the pictures. It looks very neat. The radiator is not a 30 radiator but fits well and I just winterized it to 40 below zero. The exhaust is like new. There is a generator in the truck but it is not hooked up, but I would put in an alternator. The body and tinwork is straight and no rust but the bodywork and paint needs to be redone or leave like it is and drive it. It is a fun truck to drive. I would say that it has less than 100 miles on the motor and running gear since he built. He built it in the early 1990"s, and put it in a shed at a certain point and went on to another project. I seen him drive it to a show at a park near is farm, in 1997, and it went in the shed after that. He passed away in 2010, and it sat until last year. He did drain the cooling system and fuel system before it was parked. It will need a gas tank, I have been driving it with a boat gas tank. Further questions, call me: or text, [email protected]
