Vehicle description
Here is a very rate piece of movie making history. This beauty started life as a Graham Paige limousine and was 1 of 15 cars modified by the H. O. McGee metalworks facility. These were built for Paramount Pictures and Publix Theaters to promote movies and movie stars back in the day. There is a really good article on Google about these. Of the original 15 only 5 are known to be still in existence. This one runs and drives. The original engine and transmission have been replaced by what is believed to be a Studebaker flat head 6 with a 4 speed manual transmission. The headlights, taillights, sidelights, bell and whistle were missing when I bought it and have been replaced with items from different sources. I was shown this car in the early 1990s and bugged the previous owner for 12 years before he finally sold it to me. I have owned it for about 15 years. It needs a full restoration which is beyond my capabilities and deserves a good home. A lot of the body wood needs to be replaced. The sheet metal is in surprisingly good condition. The original 19" wheels were slid into 20" rims and welded into place during the WW II period when rubber was scarce and 20" military tires were plentiful. I don"t have the 19" rings for the split rims. Neither the brakes nor the electrical system function other than starting the engine. Hyman Ltd sold one of these years ago for an undisclosed amount and they put a very thorough description together in regards to the history of these unique vehicles. Measuring about 20 feet in length it is the largest automobile I have ever owned. The actual mileage is unknown. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required within 48 hours of close of auction. For more information you can call or text me at 503-484-5154. I"m about 45 minutes from PDX. Thanx for your interest. Mike.
