Vehicle description

1929 Hudson Essex Challenger 6 Barn Find/Survivor. NO RESERVE!
Recently acquired from elderly 3rd owner. Car has been barn and garage stored most of it"s life. Minimal surface rust on this survivor. Car is in very good running condition with less than 14,000 on the odometer. Nearly all original condition including paint, interior, and engine. Four Cooper tires purchased about 4 years ago. Spare looks good too. All wood appears to be in outstanding condition. Cloth top was dry rotted and cloth tape was used to keep it water tight during transportation to my garage. Everything works including gauges, generator, wiring, lights (with exception of the interior dome light. I believe the switch is stuck.), horn, and starter. I"ve had it up to 50 MPH.
All the glass is good, all the windows work smoothly. Front windshield vent gasket is deteriorated. Previous Owner had drained the tank, carb, and fuel lines and it appears to have had the tank interior coated. I added gas and it fired up right away.
Original Owner replaced the Stewart Vacuum Tank and Original Marvel V Carb with an AutoPulse 500 fuel pump and a Rayfield? carb, sometime in the late 1930"s. It works great and I don"t have vapor lock problems. I recently replaced the clutch disc with a rebuilt one from WRPHET last month as the previous one had stuck to the flywheel and I lost some cork getting it unstuck. I haven"t had a single bolt on this car give me any trouble. I checked the brakes and adjusted them to ensure it stops well though could use a bit more fine tuning. Even the radiator vanes work smoothly.
Rear lever shock limit straps are deteriorated .
Steering box appears to leak. Engine doesn"t seem to burn any oil. The Bakelite Switch on the horn ring has had both levers broken off over the years. The light switch lever has been reglued and I have the accelerator lever. Body is solid with two little dents in the lower area of the front fenders from where the U-Haul tow dolly banged it during transport from 2nd owners to 3rd owners home.
I have the original keys, engine hand crank, hub puller, hub cover wrench, and grease gun. Don"t have the little oil can, unfortunately. I do have an extra Rayfield carb as a spare.
My understanding is that the original owners sold the car to 2nd owner in the 1970"s. 2nd owner sold it to his nephew in 2006. I bought with the intention of hot rodding it, but once I got it home and looked it over, the wife and I felt it would be criminal to chop it up.
