Vehicle description
For sale by private owner, 1989 GMC Sierra SLE 1500.
Only 18,500 miles! !
Only 2 registered owners. This truck is exquisite.
The truck was bought new back in 1989 by a modest older European couple. They treated it as gold. It was kept indoors always, and only used as their "nice" vehicle. Being the nice vehicle, it was only used for special occasions, and only in summer. These were purportedly the kind of people whose house was filled with nice things, all with doilies placed under each item. They had table cloths over more table cloths, and their living room furniture was never sat in. In so many ways, these people had reminded me of my own parents. That is, except these folks had no children. The man had occasionally used the truck to pull his small boat to the lake. Remarkably, the bed of the truck had never been used to carry anything with the exception of fishing rods. The rods were never in direct contact with the truck, instead. . . they were placed on a foam mat ! !
One day, the elderly man went for his weekly coffee with his friends and got disoriented when he left. When he didn"t arrive back home, police were called. They found him in another city 5 hours away. He had the sense of mind to fill his car with gas but, that was about it. He didn"t know much else. The stress of this confusion and events drove his dementia to a very rapid progression. Shortly, he could not function. Within 2 weeks, he was in a home and sadly. . even unable to recognize his wife. Overwhelmed by grief, the wife wound up in a home as well. 5 months later, the house, contents, and all items were put for sale.
My wife and I have a modest collection of specialty vehicles, vintage, and muscle cars. We heard of this truck through a trusted friend of the owners. He was handling all their matters. He was their next door neighbour for 35+ years. I really appreciate everything about this truck fully. We were so happy to get it. It checks off all my highest criteria. I am so proud of this truck. Then un-planned and by complete surprise to us, we recently bought 3 vehicles we never expected to get; 2 which we wanted for a very long time. Something"s got to give. I"d never expected to be doing this. Even my wife questioned me, and can"t believe we are selling this truck. We just simply are over-run and do not have any more indoor space.
Something worthy of mention is the interior of the truck. It may give a window to the level and degree of which the truck was regarded. When new, the truck was given a GM plastic bed-liner and a new canopy was painted and striped to match the truck. Sidenote: It was installed with clamps; no holes were drilled. Beyond this and the paint protections and such, is was what was done to the interior. The seats were removed because the gentleman wanted the best seat materials available. The factory GM fabric was apparently not good enough. The seats were reupholstered in ultra high grade material that is used for private airplanes. It is durable, high grade, and very thick. It"s very impressive that someone would take these measures. They look great.
Should mention, the truck performs as-new. It"s basically all around. . as-new. The A/C blows ice cold. Everything feels like a new truck did 32 years ago. It"s really incredible to me that it"s 32 years old. It"s just like it was new. I feel like a much younger man remembering sitting in my dad"s 1988 Chevrolet when it was new. This truck"s so great.
Anyhow, I suppose that"s enough. I"ll leave it at that. I"m sad enough writing this listing description and questioning myself. This is a one-of-a-kind. I"ve never even seen a collector keep a vehicle this nice. It"s actually never, as we"re told, ever been detailed. It"s simply never been dirtied. Nothing has touched the truck beyond a vacuum, soap, and water. There isn"t any dust in any nook, corner, or crevice. It"s absolutely remarkable. And now, before I question myself further. . here"s the listing.
Truck is located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Because of it"s age and domestic build, it is free of any import/export restrictions and can travel perfectly freely. Title can be transferred as easily as state to state. No difference.
Please see our feedback. We"ve narrowed down nearly all our previous collection and have built some very decent feedback. Common themes are "very helpful", "trust Johnny & Sophia", and "vehicle better than described". My wife (Sophia) has gotten pretty good at arranging shipping.
Nothing much else left to say, except to mention once more that there"s NO RESERVE. With that said, Good Luck and happy bidding!
