Vehicle description
2006 Porsche 911 Carrera (997.1) in Slate Grey with a 6 speed manual transmission. Owning and driving this car has been an incredible experience and unfortunately a significant engine issue (please see details below and also in the pictures) is requiring me to sell it in as is condition. This will be a great opportunity for someone looking to get a steal on a modern era 911 and either do some repairs on their own or perform an engine swap.
Apart from the engine issue, the 911’s interior and exterior is in great shape. The interior comes with Porsche’s upgraded full leather package. There are 3 aftermarket upgrades: Apple CarPlay, LED front turn signal lights, and engine mounts. The front and rear suspension (tire rods, shocks, and struts) are newly replaced, as well as the water pump.
Now, for the engine issue: As confirmed in the picture, the engine issue (as diagnosed by Porsche of Mobile) is that it is hydro-locked from oil filled cylinders on #3 and #6. Oil was examined and there were no metal fragments present. When the oil was drained, the engine actually turned over, started, and ran until the cylinders filled with oil again. Diagnosis was that the oil rings had seized because of carbon buildup and their inability to expand was how the oil kept coming into the cylinders. Compression test results are in the picture as well.
Due to this condition, the Porsche is not drivable and will need to be towed by the buyer.
