Vehicle description

Bottom line : actually a pretty solid car, that someone took care of for many years. Runs well, tracks really well- the strength of this car is the suspension upgrades, which makes a really nice difference in the twisties. Clean inside. Top of the line car for that model year.
Bought this car on a lark this past summer. Planned on using it as a weekender, gotten busy, etc.
Mechanicals. Pretty solid for both the age and mileage. Starts, stops, shifts, rides as it should. Turbo feels pretty solid. New battery, just did a four-wheel alignment. I haven"t seen any sign of oil leaking, burning, etc. Engine bay is pretty clean. Anecdotal only, supposedly the timing belt was replaced approx. 10K ago. Are there warning lights on? Of course! Air bag, check engine, traction. Didn"t bother me much, par for the course in this price range. Did a scan when I bought the car on the check engine light, came back with something pretty benign, "vacuum leak, left bank" or something like that. Just from eyeballing, you can see all those vacuum hoses are original, would need replacing. Clutch, shifter, nothing to report. Only issue I can think of is a/c: worked for most of the summer, then faded out. Most likely a leak, but everything is on the car, working apparently aside from that.
Suspension. Car sits about an 1" lower. Just from eyeing the underside, can see some "Megan Racing" (California outfit) trailing arms, and what looks like euro stiffening/lowering springs all the way around. I"ve owned two TTs previously, this one handles the best, those upgrades make a really nice difference in turning handling.
Interior. Pretty clean. Car originally had a grey interior, I swapped out a black one. Pretty much replaced everything, including carpet. Only thing I didn"t replace was the front door panels, "painted" them with special plastic paint, looked fairly decent. Just replaced the stereo head, and rear speakers. NB: sounds pretty weak. My guess is the orignal amp isn"t doing anything anymore.
Body . Pretty straight, esp considering miles and age. Amazing, front bumper is all in one piece. Can tell the car has had paint touch-up all around, but for the price range, decent looking all in all. Passenger side skirts has a crease or two, and there"s a ding in the quarter panel (see pic).
Misc: windshield has a couple of dings. .pretty sure the seat heaters still work, but I only tried them for a moment. .clear title, in my name. .I only have the one key. .looks like the passenger side seat bottom doesn"t quite match, probably replaced. .I"ve got an extra set of stock wheels I"ll throw in (see pic; tires are bad on those though). .tires on the car right now are pretty decent. .small issue I"ll leave for the next guy: the gear shift knob is goofy, sits loose, the threads on the gear stick are all messed up; I"ve got a replacement shift mechanism I"ll throw in, and an aftermarket shift knob with a set screw I"ll try to hunt down. .of course it has the usual instrument cluster issues: center display is faded out, and the gas gauge needle reads incorrect ( doesn"t come to rest properly, standard TT issue; gas gauge does work though, you just have to figure out the scale, which in this case, the half mark is empty. .the windows are a bit creaky and groan-y going up and down, remind me, I"ve got replacement assemblies for both sides. .
Terms . Remember, this is a 20 year old car, with 200K miles! It"s not perfect! I"m sure I"m forgetting more than I"m remembering, so please ask questions before bidding/offering! Car is located in Stafford, TX 77477 (a suburb of Houston)
