Vehicle description
2005 Born Free 26RSB converted to 4x4.
4x4 conversion done at Spirit Racing in El Cajon CA using MG Metalworks coil spring conversion kit.
Custom valved King 3" shocks with remote reservoirs and compression adjustment 2.5" King bump stops. Rear traction bars
F-350 front and rear axles rebuilt with 4.88 ratio ( speedometer is accurate as original smaller tires came with 4.10 ratio) Detroit tru-trac in rear Dana 80 axle
Toyo 285/70-19.5 tires 35.5" diameter, singles in rear. Didn"t want a dually set up in rear as they are terrible in sand and snow.
Custom rear Deaver springs built according to weight
6.0 liter diesel spent 5k on bulletproofing engine so it is reliable. Last trip was this summer California to Vermont and back averaged 12.5 mpg cruise set at 70. Better than 8mpg with gas engine.
Interior update with folding king size bed in front and double in rear. New better layout kitchen counter and sink. Had new 5000w inverter added with 4- 225AH 6v AGM batteries and 3 120watt solar panels with controller. Cost was 20k.
230amp alternator recently added. Can run roof top AC going down the road with the inverter running. Onan 3600 watt propane generator 234 hours. Espar D4 diesel heater. Held 70 degrees on ski trips in the teens. Heater is connected directly to the 55 gallon diesel tank and can run for a long time. More importantly it uses very little amps of power so dry camping in the cold is easy.
All interior lights were switched to LED. Rear holding tanks and propane tank were removed and replaced with smaller tanks for better ground clearance. Vantage Optics headlights. So much easier for night driving. I wanted a 20 degree departure angle in the rear. I chose a Born Free RV to convert because it is the only class c rv with built in roll bars and all solid wood build for a rattle free experience. They stopped production on Born Free RV"s in 2018 I believe. Their regular 26 foot class c with no slides was 150k. I think they priced themselves out of the market. You can search all the specs and figures on the 26RSB (rear side bed) model. I have plenty more pictures on request. I almost forgot to mention everything works. The conversion was done in 2017. New start AGM batteries in May 2021.
Will be out of town till the 27th of October and will answer questions then.
