Vehicle description
This 1992 Mitsubishi Jeep J53 is a RHD 4×4 that was imported from Japan by our dealership three months ago and comes with all proper import paperwork. Power is supplied by a turbocharged 4DR6 diesel engine paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox. The vehicle is mainly stock and current mileage is approximately 10,734k indicated kilometers as supported by a Japanese Export Vehicle Inspection Center certificate, which is included along with all other import paperwork. The truck is sold with a clean Pennsylvania title and is able to be registered and driven on the road.
Mitsubishi secured the rights to build the Willys CJ3B under their own name beginning in 1954, and continued producing it through 1998. The green paint is in fair shape for a vehicle of this age and is thought to be original but some touch-ups are noticeable and there is some fading and cracking on the emblems. Some surface rust and dings are seen in the pictures and I highly recommend that all serious buyers come and take a look at this vehicle in person or use a per-purchase inspection service.
The top has seen better days but a new top could be sourced from Bestop Supply, but the doors function properly and the oxidized windows are intact except for the rear window. Silver painted 15″ factory wheels show some wear and are mounted with older Dunlop tires which should be replaced due to cracking. The rear-mounted spare is also said to be in need of replacement.
Front buckets are covered in black vinyl that show some wear. Gauges are said to function as they should along with interior lights and other accessories, though the Mitsubishi radio receives only an AM signal. The 11k km (~6,700k miles) shown on the 5-digit odometer and is shown on the PA title.
Power is from a 4DR6 Turbo diesel four which is said to start quickly and idle well. The MHI turbo spools up quickly and the transmission shifts crisply during brief test drives. No service records from the vehicle’s time in Japan are available, but the seller indicates that the oil was changed immediately after its arrival in the US. The clutch needs some adjustment and most of the rubber components need to be replaced due to the vehicles age.
The J53 is equipped with part-time four-wheel-drive with a manually-engaged transfer case and front axle. Suspension components are believed to remain stock. Under body photos show the general condition of the drive train and floors.
Please call with any questions about the vehicle.
