Vehicle description
Our Cortez is a rare survivor of the type used by NASA to transport the astronauts from their staging area to the launch pad (https:/ en.wikipedia.org /wiki/ Cortez_Motor_Home ). It has a rebuilt 215 CI Chrysler Slant-Six engine, 4 speed manual transmission and front wheel drive. The previous owner rebuilt the engine and it now has approximately 10,000 mi on it. The water tank is custom made stainless steel as is the tank for the hot water heater. The various systems are as original.
We have:
Replaced the brakes (master cylinder, shoes, wheel cylinders, turned the drums),
Replaced the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder, Replaced all wheels and tires (4 plus spare) with GMC rims and Load Range E tires (3,195 lb capacity), Installed a 3-core radiator and flushed the cooling system. We love the look of our Cortez but are unable to give it the attention it deserves. We have not used many of the systems and are unable to attest to their condition but it"s evident that the RV was well cared for by the 2 previous owners. The previous owner stored it inside for 10+ years and it has been under cover during our ownership with the last winter in heated storage. A full cover comes with the purchase.
The vehicle is currently registered and we have plans for short trips during the auction so the mileage may change slightly. We are also listing it locally so we reserve the right to end the auction early.
Good luck!
